Election Committee

The Election Committee oversees the Altadena Town Council election process and works to ensure that elections are conducted fairly, transparently, and consistently with the Council’s bylaws and election rules.
What We Do
The Election Committee is responsible for coordinating and administering Town Council elections, including:

Establishing the election schedule and key deadlines

Coordinating candidate applications and election materials

Organizing polling locations and election-day operations

Recruiting and training election volunteers and poll workers

Providing voters with candidate and election information

Overseeing voting procedures and ballot handling

Coordinating the counting and reporting of election results

Reviewing election-related questions, concerns, and alleged rule violations

Providing election results and recommendations to the Town Council

Preparing a final report following each election
Our Commitment
The Election Committee serves as a neutral administrator of the election process. Committee members are expected to remain impartial and apply election rules and procedures consistently to all candidates.
Our goal is to provide Altadena residents with an election process that is accessible, organized, transparent, and fair.
Get Involved
Community volunteers play an important role in making Town Council elections possible. Residents can participate by volunteering as poll workers or assisting with other election activities.

Eight Seats Are Up for Election
Altadena, CA, September 15, 2026 – It’s election time in Altadena! Those wishing to run for a seat on the Altadena Town Council have until 5:00 p.m. on Friday, October 16, 2026, to complete and file their application. The completed application and the $40 nonrefundable application fee must both be received by that deadline. All rules and regulations are provided on this site.
If you live in Altadena, please consider this opportunity to run for your town council. The Altadena Town Council has been in existence since 1975, and in the first election over 1,500 ballots were cast for two seats.
2026 ATC Candidate Forms:
1. ATC 2026 CANDIDATE INFORMATION
The Council meets on the third Tuesday of every month and serves as an advisory body to various LA County departments. There are two council members per census tract, and each tract has one seat up for election this year. We welcome and hope for your participation. Sylvia Vega, Chair of the Election Committee, said, “Running for Altadena Town Council and voting in this local election is important to our community. The larger the turnout, the more legitimacy the Council possesses in our dealings with LA County.”
Voting will be held on two days, at the same three locations:
• Tuesday, November 3, 2026 – 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
• Saturday, November 7, 2026 – 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Polling places: Loma Alta Park Library, Prime Pizza, and Bob Lucas Library. Absentee and
write-in ballots will not be accepted.
The Election Committee consists of Town Council members and community members from Altadena: Kim Yu, Pat Sutherlen, Jon Carmody, Yolanda Dorsey, and Sylvia Vega.
