Founded in 1947, the Altadena Town Council serves as the collective voice of our community — a bridge between residents and the agencies that shape our daily lives.​ The primary purposes of the Altadena Town Council are:

 

(1) to act as an ombudsman for the neighborhoods of Altadena, conveying the needs and wishes of the residents to any county state or federal governmental body or agency, and

(2) to provide a forum for a town meeting in which to discuss issues of concern to the Altadena Community

​

As an elected, nonpartisan advisory body, the Council represents the diverse neighborhoods of Altadena, working to ensure that the needs, concerns, and priorities of our residents are heard at the county, state, and federal levels. We act as an ombudsman for the community, advocating on behalf of Altadena while helping guide decisions that impact our future.

The Council is made up entirely of dedicated volunteers — residents who give their time and energy in service to the community. This volunteer foundation reflects the spirit of Altadena: neighbors showing up for one another and working together to strengthen the place we call home.

Equally important, the Council provides an open and accessible forum where community members can come together to discuss issues, share perspectives, and engage in meaningful dialogue. Through public meetings, committees, and ongoing outreach, we strive to foster transparency, collaboration, and informed participation.
